Frequently Asked Questions
How do I charge my wristband?
You can charge your wristband by sliding it face-up onto the charging cord’s circle, with the gold prongs in the charger pointing at the gold circles on the side of your wristband. You’ll know it’s connected when the watch face is dark, and the batter percent appears on-screen.
Is my wristband waterproof?
No, your wristband is not waterproof. It is water resistant, meaning it’s okay if water splashes on the wristband just a little bit. However, please take your wristband off to bathe and swim (this is a good time to charge it).
How should I wear my wristband if I normally wear another watch?
If you normally wear another watch device, please still wear the wristband one fingers length from your wrist on your non-dominant hand. You may wear your other watch device either higher on the same forearm, or on your other wrist.
How do I know what events to mark as “triggering”?
Whenever you are reminded of the event that brought you to the clinic, please mark an event on your wristband. This might be a memory that pops into your head, or seeing/hearing/smelling something that reminds you of the event.
How do I mark an event?
To mark an event, please hold either side button on the wristband for at least 5 seconds. A small check mark will appear, and the wristband will vibrate, to confirm the event has been marked.
How do I ship back my wristband?
How you ship back your wristband will depend on which method you selected during your one-week survey. If you cannot remember which you selected, please reach out to the study team.
Whether you selected FedEx or USPS, your shipment came with a pre-paid shipping label. Please attach this shipping label to the same box you received your wristband in. Please be sure to completely cover or remove the original shipping label to prevent any shipping mistakes.
If you selected FedEx, the study team will reach out to schedule a time window for FedEx to pickup the package from your doorstep.
If you selected USPS, you will receive a reminder the study team to remind you to please ship back your materials through an approved USPS method.
What do I ship back with my wristband?
When it is time to ship back your wristband, please include the wristband itself, the charger, and the plastic carrying pouch they were shipped in.
Why should I bother sending my wristband back?
The wristbands we use for this research are very expensive, and are designed for research use specifically. You’ll gain no benefit from keeping it, but will receive $25 for returning it, and it won’t cost you any money to send it back. More importantly, we have a limited number of wristbands at any given time, so returning it to us will allow us to send it out to other survivors like yourself. This will help us collect more information, and fulfill our mission to improve recovery after stressful experiences like the one you’ve been through.
